Scope:This standard for the Seismic Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings, referred to herein as “this standard,” specifies nationally applicable provisions for the seismic rehabilitation of buildings. Seismic rehabilitation is defined as improving the seismic performance of structural and/or nonstructural components of a building by correcting deficiencies identified in a seismic evaluation. Seismic evaluation is defined as an approved process or methodology of evaluating deficiencies in a building, which prevent the building from achieving a selected Rehabilitation Objective. Seismic evaluation using ASCE 31 (ASCE 2002), the procedures and criteria of this standard, or other procedures and criteria approved by the authority having jurisdiction is permitted.

Seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings shall comply with requirements of this standard for selecting a Rehabilitation Objective and conducting the seismic rehabilitation process to achieve the selected Rehabilitation Objective. This standard does not preclude a building from being rehabilitated by other procedures approved by the authority having jurisdiction. Symbols, acronyms, definitions, and references used throughout this standard are cited separately in sections located at the end of this standard.

ASCE Manual of Practice No. 117 PDF

This manual describes successful construction methods and procedures for installing common types of pipes used to transport water-like fluids. Inspecting Pipeline Installation focuses on the needs of field personnel, constructors, and inspectors. It assumes the pipeline design is complete, decisions on alternatives are resolved, and the designer’s concepts are now ready for conversion to a real project. Pipeline construction is complex and demanding and requires the services of skilled contractors and craftsmen. Construction quality control and assurance are strict job requirements.

This manual has two main purposes. First, it provides an educational tool for readers with limited experience. Second, it consolidates a wealth of practical pipeline installation information into one volume. This book covers introductory and advanced topics. It provides guidance for those with limited technical backgrounds, as well as those without specific working knowledge of a variety of pipe materials. Non-technical personnel needing basic information regarding the pipeline installation process will also find the manual useful.

ASCE Manual of Practice No. 92 PDF

Manhole structures are the principal means of access for collection system maintenance. Effective manhole inspection and rehabilitation are necessary to remove excessive manhole infiltration and inflow, improve manhole structural integrity, address public safety-related issues, and implement general system maintenance requirements. The goal of this manual is to present a current and complete inspection and grading protocol that offers logical step-by-step guidance for maintaining and improving the health of these systems. This new edition of Manhole Inspection and Rehabilitation, Manual No. 92, presents the primary components that allow agencies to accurately identify inventory, evaluate the condition of these structures, make informed decisions for rehabilitation materials, and include key quality control measures when specifying the use of rehabilitation materials.

The topics examined in this updated edition include: 1) safety; 2) manhole inspection; 3) manhole rehabilitation methods; 4) cost-effectiveness analysis and rehabilitation method selection; and 5) construction inspection and quality control. This book will be valuable to all sewer system professionals.

ASCE Manual of Practice No. 118 PDF

This manual provides a general overview of methods used in placing utility cables belowground, including formal underground conduit systems and relatively low-cost direct-buried facilities-with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and space efficiency. ASCE Manual of Practice for Belowground Pipeline Networks for Utility Cables describes past practices, as well as more recent techniques in which individual pipes or ducts may be advantageously deployed in conjunction with direct-buried cables.

Related design, construction, and operational requirements and guidelines are provided throughout this book, along with analyses of topics including: underground conduit systems, direct-buried systems, cable installation methods in duct, hybrid belowground cable networks, Status of Below Ground Cable Networks.

This book provides both introductory and specific design and construction information to support the implementation of the proposed hybrid belowground cable network. It will be valuable to new and experienced engineers in road and community construction, utility owners, contractors, municipalities, and various project owners.
